Dr. Mahek A. Shah, MD
Project Director and Senior Researcher – Harvard Business School
Dr. Mahek A. Shah is a physician, researcher, consultant, and former investment banker, who leads the Value Based Health Care costing projects at Harvard Business School. As a Senior Researcher, he advises and designs time-driven activity-based costing (TDABC) initiatives to help organizations understand real and actual costs of care delivery. He is Associate Faculty at Ariadne Labs, a joint venture founded by Atul Gawande. For more than 12 years, Dr. Shah has focused on redesigning health care to improve patient outcomes, leverage technology, and design a better health care experience.
Dr. Shah is the co-author of several Harvard Business School (HBS) case studies. Dr. Shah’s research has been cited and published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), World Health Organization (WHO), the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and Forbes. He delivered a TED talk at Harvard: Bringing Patient-centered Design to Healthcare. Shah speaks globally on the future of health care delivery, technology’s role in health, digital strategies, innovative delivery models, and the business of healthcare.
Prior to medicine, Dr. Shah worked on Wall Street at Citigroup’s Global Corporate and Investment Bank.
